Always looking to stay ahead of the game and offer the most comprehensive solution, Solo have been successfully running a 3D printer to produce bespoke components to manufacture blinds and systems that are unavailable as off-the-shelf systems.
You can be forgiven for thinking that blinds are straight forward, it’s something we hear all the time, but the truth cannot be further from this. The number of options of systems, how the systems operate, derivatives of the various systems and then coupled with types of fabric and colours makes blinds one of the most diverse products out there. There are no “standard” windows so every blind we make is a one off, bespoke system.
Producing these systems is usually something we’ve all seen before, but something that is becoming more frequent in modern times is the need for a very specific solution. Between the wild and wonderful ideas of architects; all the way down to a customer who would like it “just so”, this is creating the need for something where off-the-shelf components just can’t cut it!
Enter the 3D printer, taking the world by storm, but believe it or not 3D printing technology has been around for more than 20 years. More recently these magic machines have become more commonplace and for the last 12 months Solo have been using our own 3D printer to fill this hole and offer solutions that you would be hard pushed to find in the blind industry.
Our first printer has proven so valuable that we are now looking to expand with more printers in the very near future .
Only good things can come of this step in a new direction and you can be rest assured, Solo will always be riding the crest of the wave in any new technologies even if they do seem like witchcraft to our MD!!
